Welcome to MicMac Camp

We are located along side of the world famous Cascapedia River. The camp is a renovated Victorian Farmhouse that was built in 1875 on 400 acres of property with a view over the Cascapedia River.

Our camp has been home to many avid anglers since 1997 and we boast a return clientele of over 80% since the very beginning of our operations. We are the only camp on the river that offers fishing on the entire main river (A-B-C Sectors) and also the Lake Branch (D Sector).

It is not required to enter a draw or lottery system when fishing with our camp. It is as simple as looking at the available dates and booking directly. We also give rights of first refusal over those dates that you book this year for the following year.

Our success can be seen in the Cascapedia River’s landed fish stats that are provided by the management of the Cascapedia River. Year in and year out, we land more salmon than any other camp because of our expert guide staff and we provide a superior quality of fishing and access to the best pools on the Cascapedia River.

If you are looking for the most incredible angling experience on the #1 ranked river in North America for Large Atlantic Salmon, we have exactly what you’ve been looking for!

Accommodations

As soon as you arrive to camp you will feel as though you have been here all along. Since 80% of our guests have been return clients for almost 20 years, we are like a big family. You can expect a very warm welcome followed by an invite for a cocktail or scotch upon arrival.

At camp we have 10 cozy rooms that are all equipped with air conditioning.

We have standard double occupancy rooms, double occupancy rooms with private bathroom & shower, single occupancy rooms with private bathroom & shower and suites for couples with private bathroom & shower. There are two common bathroom & shower facilities to accommodate for the rooms that do not have them.

During your stay we provide you with breakfast, lunch and supper along with snacks and home baked-goods.

You will have plenty of energy when the time comes to fight a 40-pound Cascapedia Giant!

Meals are served to you in the dinning room where you will enjoy great company with other anglers who have as many fishing tales to tell as the next.

There is no better way to enjoy snow crab, lobster, shrimp, steaks, home made soups and other delicious foods that come from the East Coast.

All of your fishing gear can be hung to dry in our tack shop so that your waders are comfortable for the next morning of fishing.

There are rod racks and hooks for all of your equipment.

The Fishing

Anglers at our camp fish split days to maximize the chances of hooking up. Fishing is generally much better in the mornings when the water is cool and the air is crisp or during the evenings when the sun is coming off of the pool triggering the salmon to “turn on” again.

The Fishing

A normal day on the river at our camp would be to start fishing by 7 or 8 am until noon and then going back to camp for lunch and a bit of rest before going back out to fish from 4 pm until dark. Of course this could change depending on the fishing conditions.

Catch and Release

It is mandatory to release all Atlantic Salmon when fishing with our camp including grilse. Although the Quebec regulations may allow anglers to keep their grilse, we have a strict rule at camp that every salmon caught must be released. Our guides are very skilled at releasing Atlantic Salmon safely back into the river so that they may reproduce future “takers” for our grandchildren to fish for. The future of the sport relies on conscious anglers of today.

The Guides.

We take pride in having an outstanding guide staff. Fishing with a guide is the safest and most efficient way to fish any river that you’re not fully familiar with and it increases your chances of success. Our guides will put you in the best possible position on a pool and help you with expert advice on how to hook into and land that Cascapedia Giant.

Our guides have been guiding on this river day in and day out, 7 days a week from June 1st until September 30th of every year, for many years. They have acquired the knowledge over the years to fish under many different conditions and they are of great assistance whether you’re in high water or low water.

Not only are they accomplished guides but they are extremely accomplished anglers as well. They can help if you require assistance in mastering a certain cast or if you would like a lesson on how to Spey cast. Spotting fish and fly selection are talents that you will definitely appreciate from our guides, in most cases it will be one of the main reasons why you’re hooking into and landing big fish!
